Position:             Pipeline TD
Commitment:  Full Time
Reports to:        VP of Engineering
Location:            Remote

Description: As a Pipeline TD with GridMarkets, you will be the customer facing problem solver who investigates difficult issues for customers and finds novel solutions to make their experience as smooth as possible. As a main contact between industry professionals and GridMarkets, it is important that you  have an appreciation of how artists work and an ability to communicate effectively with them to resolve problems. 


Who You Are:
You are interested in the techie side of the VFX world. You like solving problems that you have never seen before and are undaunted in the face of issues which seem to defy logic. You will be the link between artists and the technology that enables their outcomes.  You are ultimately “the voice of the customer” and will be representing their issues and needs as they face them.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the render queue for potential customer and system issues

  • Promptly respond and follow up on support tickets from customers to resolve their issues promptly

  • Troubleshoot render submission issues, examine for hardware or software causes, and escalate issues to appropriate departments as needed

  • Investigate and offer novel pipelines and workarounds for artists to get the most out of the service

  • Follow up tickets with any ongoing issues through to software suppliers and partners as necessary

  • Communicate clearly and proactively inform customers of potential issues

  • Suggest fixes and enhancements to the service based on customer issues, feedback and your own ideas.


Knowledge, Understanding, and Experience We're Looking For:

  • Intermediate understanding of several major VFX and Animation packages: Maya, 3DS Max, Cinema4D, Blender, Nuke, etc.

  • Intermediate understanding of major rendering solutions including Arnold, Redshift, V-Ray, RenderMan, Mantra, Karma, etc.

  • Intermediate understanding of Houdini a bonus, but a strong desire to learn is a must

  • Basic knowledge of render management systems such as Deadline, Backburner, Tractor or similar a bonus

  • Basic knowledge of Linux and Python scripting a bonus

  • Must be comfortable in Windows and Linux operating systems using command line tools

  • Good customer service skills and experience communicating with both technical and artistic people

  • Fluent in written & spoken English; other languages a bonus.


Compensation: Competitive with options/equity for the right candidate
